"A little over two years ago, I was in a new city at a new school, and I had just purchased my first condo. I had been planning on adopting a puppy as soon as the paperwork went through and I could call myself a homeowner. The timing just happened to coincide with the loss of our family dog, Blaze. Blaze was a Shetland Sheepdog, and I knew that I wanted to adopt a similar dog. I searched online and found the Houston Sheltie Sanctuary. While I was looking at available shelties, I saw they recently rescued s Sheltie that had just given birth to five beautiful puppies. I quickly submitted an application to adopt one of the puppies. About a week later, after a few phone calls to check my references and a home visit, I brought home my sweet fur baby, Thor. He is a small pup, but he has a big attitude. He is constantly by my side and I could not imagine my life without him.
In the following years, I have learned so much about the Houston Sheltie Sanctuary (HSS). HSS does not have a shelter location, but instead depends on a wonderful community of foster homes. They provide all the dogs with needed veterinary care and behavioral rehabilitation. They work hard to find loving homes for the shelties, or provide care for those that are too old or too ill to be rehomed."
